WIPacolypse and End of 2018

After a long silence, I am back.  I haven't been cross stitching in a while.  My time has been taken up with work, spinning, crochet and knitting.  I am also now a novice weaver.  I have a floor loom set up in my home.  I am hoping to fill you in on those exploits as time goes on.  For now, I thought I would update everyone one the Precious Moments Alphabet Afghan.  Yes, I STILL haven't finished it.  I am getting ever closer.  This project has been ever looming in my life.  I have fully finished N-Y.  I have started Z and the main picture.

April WIPacolypse

Time for another WIPacolypse posting, on the new moon every month people participating in this SAL place an update on their blog about the progress they have made this month.  If you would like more information please click here to get more information.  Last month my plan was to get M-P finished on my alphabet afghan.  Now looking at this aspiration, I realize this was just a crazy goal.  First M and N were both little kids, and the kids in this pattern take a huge amount of time.  Second, finishing four letters seems like a pipe dream kids or no.  I did finish M and N.  I started O.  Here are pictures of those:

I feel like doing both M and N has burned me out on this project a little.  I feel like in the future I will alternate animal block with kid blocks.  So my goal for next month is to finish O-Owl, Q-Queen (kid), and P-Pig.  I want to finish them in that order to see if it help me stay motivated to finish this stitch.

Heaven and Earth Designs is having a second challenge this year.  The challenge is to use cross country stitching one color at a time to finish one full page of a chart by June 15th.  I have chosen the Mourning for Icarus chart as my challenge piece, check it out here.  This is my progress so far:
I don't know if I will be able to finish this page by June 15th.  However, that is my current goal.

This Month's Topic is What do you listen to while stitching?
I watch Flosstube or TV Shows.  My favorite shows to binge while stitching are Medium, Crazy Ex-girlfriend, and Stargate Atlantis.  We have Hulu and Netflix so I watch watch ever is on my list.

That's all for this month!  You can find me on Facebook at facebook.com/firecrakrprojects and on Youtube at https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCLsDO14LqmaIzv89nZmkfBA

International Hermit and Stitch Weekend (IHSW) April 2016

I am so EXCITED!!  After years of wanting to get back on schedule with the IHSW SAL, I finally had an opportunity to hermit and stitch this last weekend.  I got a good amount done.  I was hindered to a small degree because I have had migraines all weekend, but I still feel like it was a very successful weekend!

The first project I worked on was the Precious Moments Alphabet Afghan.

Here's what it looked like on Friday.
This is the N is for Nurse Block.  Here is what N looked like at the end of the day yesterday.
I am so excited that she is almost finished.  I haven't gotten as far as I wanted to this month.  Since the kids take such a long time, I have decided to alternate between blocks with animals and those with kids.  Up until now, I have been doing the blocks in order.  We will see next month if that helps me achieve more progress or not.

I have also started The Mourning of Icarus which is a Heaven and Earth Designs.  I am trying to participate in Challenge 2, but I don't know if I will be able to finish one page of this pattern by June 15.

Here's what it looked like on Friday.
As you can see, I hadn't started yet.  This is how far I have gotten by yesterday.
It's really hard to see because the first floss I have decided to start with winter white.  This is the first time I have worked on 25ct Linen.  I have decided to do 2 over 1.  I am liking the coverage thus far.

So over all a pretty successful Hermit and Stitch here.  If you would like to join the IHSW SAL, there is usually a sign up each month on this blog (click here).  If you would be interested in seeing more WIP pics of my project please like my Facebook page facebook.com/firecrakrprojects.
I have a Youtube channel, and this week I will be adding a video about the Crochet and other Yarnwork projects I am currently working on and a second Flosstube video.  You can watch and subscribe to my channel here.

For next month, I have would like to finish the Winter White for all of the first page of the Mourning of Icarrus.  I would love to finish up N plus two more letters.

Happy Stitching!

March WIPacolypse

It's been a full two years since I have updated this blog.  Life has taken over and I got busy with life.  But good news, I'M BACK!!!
I will be participating in the WIPacolypse SAL again this year.  Since this is my first posting in awhile, I thought I would include pictures of all the pieces I am working on.

These first two pieces I am featuring are offically UFO's, and I will not be working on them between now and the April posting.  However, I have worked on them since I last posted here and thought you might like to see the progress that has been made.

The Castle By Teresa Wentzler

Santa's Hat By Mill Hill

I am working on an afghan for a new baby in our family.  I find this project is coming along quicker the further I get into the project.

Precious Moments Alphabet Afghan

I have A thru L completely done.  I am currently working on M.
My goal for the April WIPacolypse posting is to have M-P completely finished.

International Hermit and Stitch Weekend (IHSW) March 2014

I am so excited that I had some time to cross stitch this past weekend (3/21-3/23).  I was going to rotate projects, but I ended up just working on the Wolf Bookmark #3 (Artecy).  This will end up being a gift.  I'm hoping to have this done before the end of April, as the person's birthday is in May.

I hope everyone had a fantastic weekend!!

First WIPocolypse of 2014 and my 14 in 14

So it's been awhile.  I have been super busy with real life this year!  I am super excited to be getting back to my stitchy life!  In 2014, I will be participating in the Totally Useless Stitch Along or TUSAL, the WIPocolypse 2014, and the International Hermit and Stitch Weekend (IHSW).  If you may be interested in participating in any of these challenges please click on the name and you will be redirected to the proper sites.  I will eventually be putting up buttons for these on the side of my blog when I have the opportunity.
Now we have come to the time where I tell you a little about myself.  I taught myself how to cross stitch when I was about 15, but there was a long period in my life that I didn't cross stitch.  As an adult, I have picked up projects and books along the way but I didn't get back in to cross stitching seriously until Fall 2011.  I live in New Hampshire, USA, and generally love to travel!  Last year, I chose 13 projects to complete in 2013.  I did not complete nearly that many, but I loved having the motivation of a list.  So this year I have chosen 14 projects to complete in 2014.

My 14 in 14 are:  (I have photo's of the projects I have already started.)

1. Santas Closet-Santa's Hat- MH16-6301 Mill Hill Kit
2. Charmed Mitten-Santa's Night-Mill Hill Kit
3.Teresa Wentzler's the Castle pg 3 & backstitching

4. Teresa Wentzler's the Castle pg 4
5. Hadaway Cottege (Artecy) pg 1
6. Hadaway Cottege (Artecy) pg 2
7. Hadaway Cottege (Artecy) pg 3
8. Hadaway Cottege (Artecy) pg 4
9. Black Masqurade (Mystic Stitch) pg 1
10. Black Masqurade (Mystic Stitch) pg 2
11. Black Masqurade (Mystic Stitch) pg 3
12.  Wolf Bookmark #3 (Artecy)

13. Magical Arrival SK (Heaven and Earth Designs)
14. Joy of Computer Work (Heaven and Earth Designs)

There you have if folks, my stitchy goals for this year.  I know they are lofty, but I'm sure I will enjoy every stitch.
