End of the Year Finishes and a Year of ORT

So we have nearly come to the end of 2013!  This has been such a wonderful and difficult year for me personally.  There were many months I was unable to cross stitch as I was to busy.  I finished a couple of projects as Christmas gifts.  Here they are....

I finished the Moonlight with Palm Trees Bookmark by Artecy (if you are interested in this pattern you can purchase it CLICK HERE FOR INFO

The top photo is the back.  After much help from a forum on Facebook, I decided to use self-adhesive felt to cover the back and protect it as the person uses it!  The bottom photo is the front of the bookmark.  I am really satisfied with how it came out!

I also finished the Santa Clause Mill Hill kit!  I don't remember where I purchased this kit, as I bought it almost 8 years ago.  However, the title of the kit is MHPS21 Glacier Santa.  You'll notice in the photo below I have included the front of the package to help you know which kit this is.  I did not take a photo of the back of this one. Sorry!

As a way of reflecting on the amount of work I did this year, this is my ORT jar....

I have already decided which projects I will try to accomplish in 2014!  I am looking forward to what the next year might hold!!

IHSW

So this past weekend was the international hermit and stitch weekend, and I was so sure I would lock myself in the room and stitch to my hearts desire.  Well, I miss counted my weekends in September and as promised I was super busy.  Saturday, I did the Biggest Loser Off-Road Challenge in Killington, VT.  For those of you who don't know, this race is actually the Spartan Sprint course with the exception that you are not required to do the obstacles.  The Spartan in Vermont is extremely difficult, and I finished but was super sick and laid up all night.  Then the next day we went to the Nascar race.....So from beginning to end I had no time.  I did manage to stitch a little on my Polar Santa on Friday!

Here's hoping I get more stitching done next month!

WIPocalypse

This is my first WIPocalypse posting ever.  I have been quietly and jealously enjoying the posts of others each month waiting to have an opportunity to participate.  I thought with the completion of my degree in June I would finally have a chance to stitch and participate in fun postings, such as the WIPocalypse.  So we are now in September and I am FINALLY posting, better late than never right?!  So I am including all of my WIP (Works in Progress) as I haven't posted any of these before, just to give you an idea of what I am working on and where I am in my current projects.

So here is a christmas ornament I am working on from Mill Hill, I believe this is their Polar Santa.  (Please forgive the dog hair on this one....My husband (aka the Doritos Man)  took the pictures and didn't really look to see if the dogs had shed on my work.)

This next piece I  have been working on since my youngest cousin was in the womb, and she is now 16 months.  This is Teresa Wentzler's the Castle cross stitch.

For the most part I have been working on this next piece which is a bookmark from Artecy call Moonlit Palm Trees.

Last but certainly not least is the beginnings of the Hathaway Cottage by Artecy.

I was hoping to be able to also participate in the IHSW (international hermit and stitch weekend).  However, I am signed up to run the Biggest Loser Obstacle Race in Killington, VT tomorrow and I will be at the NASCAR race in Loudon, NH Sunday.  I also had a job interview today and I have another Monday.  So as you can see this may not be a big stitching weekend for me, but we shall see what happens!

I am glad that I finally get to showcase my work, and hope you enjoy!

Start with a Finish

For a long time now, I have wanted to start a blog of my crafty finishes, and now I have finally gotten around to it.  I want to start on a positive note so I am beginning at the end (of a project that is).  This past week on (9/2/2013) I finished the Dimensions Happily Ever After Wedding Record Kit below.

The top picture is the front of the project.  (Please note that the names and date of the wedding are missing as they are unusual, and I don't want to post such information.)  The bottom picture is the back of the project.  I have decided to post the backs of my finished projects because the pictures I see of backs on the internet always amaze me as to their pristine nature.  Mine are rarely this way, and I think people generally think every back is beautiful....Not true people.  I am not going to post where I purchased this kit, because it is widely available in the United States.

So this is where we begin.  I will try to post at least once a month...
